Patient rights and responsibilities

What you can expect of the practice, and what the practice asks of you.

Your rights

  • To be treated with respect and privacy.
  • To know what a treatment is, what it costs and what the risks are, before you agree. Indicative fees, what is included and possible additional costs are shown before you confirm an online booking, and any reasonably foreseeable cost to you is explained before it is incurred.
  • To refuse treatment, and to ask for a second opinion.
  • To choose your care. Dr Wilana Hattingh at Willow Way is an independent medical practice. You do not have to be a member of any gym, or buy any product or service from any neighbouring business, to consult here. You may choose another healthcare provider at any time.
  • To see your own records. You may ask for access to your records, or raise a privacy concern, through the practice. Formal requests follow the PAIA manual.
  • To be seen first if you become seriously unwell while waiting. The practice may interrupt the appointment order to prioritise urgent clinical need.
  • To complain without it affecting your care. The complaints procedure sets out how.

Your responsibilities

  • To tell Dr Hattingh the truth about your health and your medicines.
  • To follow the plan you agreed, or tell her why not.
  • To let the practice know if you cannot come.
